What is activated carbon?

The activated carbon filters are made from coconut shells. The coconut shells undergo a process called Carbonation in which all other elements except the coal are removed. Activated carbon absorbs alkaline contaminants in water, as well as chlorine in tap water. This helps to improve taste and eliminate odours from alkaline drinking water.
